Thessaloniki (in Greek: Θεσσαλονίκη) is the second largest city in Greece after the capital Athens. Thessaloniki is the capital of the geographical region of Macedonia and the administrative center of the region of Central Macedonia. Population of the city is 363,987 people (2001), with its suburbs - 800,764 people. The city of Thessaloniki is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city is also the center of the Thessaloniki Diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church. Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is also located there, which is the seat of the Catholic Thessaloniki Apostolic Vicariate.

Asprovalta (in Greek: Ασπροβάλτα)is a resort village in Aegean Macedonia, Greece, Dem Besicko Lake (Volvi), Thessaloniki region, Central Macedonia region with 3039 inhabitants (2001).

Serres (in Greek: Сέρρες, Серес, катаревуса: Σέρραι, Сере, на турски: Serez, Серез) is a town in the northeastern part of Aegean Macedonia, Greece. It is the center of Dem Ser, part of the administrative district of Central Macedonia, as well as of the Diocese of Sers and Nigrita of the Greek Orthodox Church. Its population is 54,266 people (2001).

The town was founded by the Thracian tribe Siriopeoni, which the general of the Persian king Darius - Megabase colonized and moved to Asia in the late 6th century BC. Its name is associated with the name of its founders. It is mentioned by Herodotus in the 5th century BC. (Σῖρις), by Titus Livy in 59 BC. (Σίρας) and by other later ancient authors.
